Great controversy surrounds Obama's American Jobs Care Act, costing a rumored report of $120 billion dolllars. Like the majority of Americans though, I do somewhat believe that Obama created this plan as a means of gaining a stance in the 2012 election. But unlike others, I do believe we need to give him this chance. Displayed by his approval ratings, many Americans feel that Obama hasnt done enough in his presidential years. But this shouldnt come as a great suprise to the public. The country was in one of it's worst economic downfalls since the Great Depression, fighting a war for almost eight years, and still reeling from terrorist threats when Obama came into office. You cant expect one man to solve everything in the limited time period he has been given, i.e. 4 years. The U.S's decline was the accumulation of almost 20 years of choices, which cant be expected to be turned upright in less than five. But, despite all this, Obama has accomplished several things, which the mass of the public is probably unaware of, such as signing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which employed over 2 million people, and passed the Children's Health Insurance Reathorization act, providing 11 milion kids with insurance. Consequently, I believe that Obama's Jobs Act, although late, might be for the better, running somewhat reminscent of Roosevelt's New Deal Plan, which distributed jobs through government funded jobs, (Obama wants to revitalize construction by issuing out jobs to improve the nations deteriorating roads.) Thus, just like Roosevlet, Obama may need to stick around as president for another four years to gain the change he so clealy wanted to see in the beginning.

Cultural Center Debate Reflection
The debate held on Friday helped to open my mind to the various sides to this issue. Although the opposition pulled up several points gaianst the construction of the mosque, citing historical refeernces and the location of nearby mosques, I still hold true to my view. I noticed that those against the mosque kept referring to Muslims and the terrorists by "they". Although someone tried to clear up that this was not intended, it brought to the light how we group together certain cultures. Like the quote says, "one spoiled apple ruins the bunch", I believe many view Muslims, due to Muslim extremists, in this specific way. Consequently, I feel that this is greatl unjust, and considering the many harsh remarks for the removal of this culrural center, against the consititutional rights in which this nation was founded on. It is also greatly poignant to observe and direct that this center does not only consist of a mosque, but of a recreation center, pool, and a means to observe other religions. It is thus clear to point out that this CULTURAL CENTER is not a means of converting those around the area to the Muslim faith, which some on the opposition tried to make a point of. Accordingly, despite the heated debate held in class, I still strongly hold my postition for the building of this center.

"The Real Reson for Obama's NYC Mosque Speech"
http://blog.oregonlive.com/myoregon/2010/08/the_real_reason_for_obamas_nyc.html
Speculation arises that Obama's support for the construction of the New York City mosque may be as an appeasment to Saudia Arabia, who were then pending a sale of over $60 billion with U.S. defense contractors. Although the two events occured on the same day, that of Obama's speech and the break on the Saudia Arabian sale, no true correation of the two have been released, despite many strong opinions.
